Hey everyone! I'm Charity, Julies' sister. She is busy having family over for the week. So, I told her I would guest post for her. I live in the same town as Jules with my husband and 2 kids. I'm so proud of my sis for what she's done with her blog. She is a beautiful writer and truly an inspiration! She is one of my best friends and I love her dearly. I couldn't ask for a better sister.
So, I wanted to share with you a little project I finished last week. While shopping at our local Goodwill store I spotted this darling sheet for $1.99. Instantly the wheels started turning with ideas of what I could create with it. And this is what I made...................
My dear, sweet daughter, Grayse, was blessed with her dads broad shoulders and stocky build. We have a hard time finding regular "store bought" clothes that fit her. So, I try to make alot of her clothing. She has been needing a comfy summer dress and I had just the plan!
Jules got me this cute vintage pattern [on the left below] at a garage sale last week and it was the perfect style I was looking for. I used that pattern for my base and I used the instructions from the other pattern to help modify. [ I'm not real good at creating my own on a whim!!]
As I was cutting the ideas were flowing! I thought I'd use the top of the sheet with the flowered squares as a ruffle and pockets.
And here is how it turned out!
I thought the pockets turned out so cute along with the ruffle!
The pattern originally had a zipper back but from past experience Grayse grows out of zippers way too fast! I wanted her to be able to wear this dress for a couple of years so I rigged up an elastic back.
I don't know if it's the cutest dress I've ever made but Grayse absolutely loves it and can't believe how comfy it is! She has worn it everyday and I finally got to wash it today. For 2 bucks, how can you go wrong?I hope everyone has a wonderful week and Jules will be back soon!
