The Fair

We made it through Fair week!
A week of total fun, good memories, greasy food, thrilling rides, and barn duty :).

The boys showed their pigs and then auctioned them off for $2.50/lb.
They were sad to see their piggies go, but excited for a giant check at the end for all of their hard work.

Tim and his pig, Arthur. He was such a sweet pig and really laid back.

4-H has been a wonderful thing for our family.
The kids learn a lot about their projects, but also about the value of record keeping, money management, and dealing with the public.
My little niece, Grayse, showed her dog Dozer and did sooo well!
My sister was in her third week at the hospital in pre-term labor...
It was hard for her not to be at the Fair, but I now am the proud Auntie of a healthy new baby nephew!

My littles watching their brothers show:).
Will and his pig, Florence:).
She was a little naughty and liked to run in the show ring!

Tim was thrilled after the sale and is planning on buying a steer for next year's     4-H project.
His love is definitely cattle, but really enjoys the pigs.
I love to follow our kids' interests.

A few of us were lucky enough to be a part of the parade in town.
Lily, Jack, and my nephew Dylan rode in the "goat train" for Anderson Family Farm.
Isn't it the sweetest?

The kids always look forward to a day of dong the rides!
I am usually exhausted, but they seem to have enough energy to last through the night!

And I think this picture of our little friend sums up how we all felt at the end!
Poor thing...the carousel lulled him to sleep;).
Hope you are all enjoying the last few days of Summer.
School starts for us and I am excited to post a little more about homeschooling, our curriculum, and how we school.

Blessings,

Julia

What a great post! Congratulations to your sister and to you, being an auntie again :o)

I loved the last photo...what a sweetie. That would definitely happen to me if I rode the carousel at the end of a fun day at the fair.

I remember those days well. I loved seeing your kids enjoying the fair and showing livestock. I'm looking forward to your homeschool days. It's my first year of *not* planning a homeschool year.

I can't remember how I found your blog, but I have been visiting for awhile now and always enjoy stopping by. :) This post was fun to read and it's great to see young people getting involved with raising and showing animals. It sounds like your children are doing a great job with it, and it looks like you all had a fun time at the fair!

And oh how I wish our town had a county fair. This is such a great thing for a small town.

A time to connect with friends and neighbors and really good for the family.
