Have You Tried Essential Oils?

I have to tell you that I was a little skeptical at first.
Sure, I loved the aromas of several essential oils and used them in my cleaning products, but I wasn't sure about how effective they really were as far as health.
My son has severe asthma and we have a great doctor who recommended putting peppermint oil on his feet at night to help him breathe.
The largest pores on your body are on the bottom of your feet and absorb watch what you put on your feet..haha!
To make a long story really helps!
I was quite surprised and really pleased because for a tiny fraction of an investment I have something that doesn't interact with his other meds and is a natural God provided help!
Tim used to drink a lot of peppermint tea when he was having trouble breathing.
Well, 1 drop of peppermint oil has the same potency as 28 cups of tea!

I have a sweet friend Beth who recently started getting essential oils through a wonderful company called DoTerra.
They have THE BEST pure oils on the market. In fact, you really cannot find anything that comes close as their organic sources and processing contains no fillers.

I decided to try lemon oil, after learning that it helps with stress...and recently we have been dealing with a family issue that has caused a lot of worry. {It's a long story that I may share as I think there needs to be more awareness.}
I can't believe how good I feel!
Just a couple of drops and I feel like I am uplifted and ready to tackle any problem.
I have been deep in prayer over the issue, and I know the Lord is working in miraculous ways...but the oil has been such an added benefit!
And it is something God made and provided for us.
Living in a way that is more sustainable is a wonderful thing!

Here is more information about lemon oil:

Traditionally, lemon oil has many uses. It is a powerful antiseptic and can be an effective means to improve circulation.  It is a considered to be an excellent antibacterial agent. This makes it well suited for respiratory infections or inflammation.  Historically, adding a few drops of lemon oil to warm water with a sweetener has provided relief for many suffering from coughs or sore throats.
Additionally, its pleasant sweet aroma can be uplifting to lighten any mood as well as cleansing to the environment.  One of the easiest ways to receive the remarkable qualities associated with lemon oil is to diffuse it into the air or utilize direct inhalation from the palms of the hands. Lemon oil can effortlessly be applied to the bottom of the feet or added to a glass of water as a purifier and for a quick energizing boost.  Interestingly, lemon oil has also been known to be strengthening to the fingernails. Simply apply the oil directly onto the nails.

Essential oils are really worth researching.
Of course, if you have a condition in which you are taking other medication, it is smart to check with your doctor first.
I think you will be surprised to learn that many are so safe to try.
Essential oils are used for a wide range of emotional and physical wellness applications.
They can be used a single oil at a time or in complex blends depending on user experience and desired benefit.
They are usually administered by one of three ways: aromatically, applied topically, or taken internally as dietary supplements.

I have seen/heard some amazing testimonies from friends recently.
I have a friend who tried Citrus Bliss instead of going back on Wellbutrin and is feeling better than ever.
Back pain really helped by using Deep Blue...a blend of seven essential oils.
And the list goes on:).

Today, my dear friend Beth has offered to give away one 15ml bottle of Lemon Oil... which has some wonderful properties...

It is also great for:

Calm & Stress Relief
Cold and Flu Season
Disinfect Living Area
Insect Repellant
Cold and Flu
Sore Throat
Stomach Ache
Throat Infections

Beth is also giving one winner a 5ml bottle of Wild Orange.

Wild Orange Essential Oil
Citrus sinensis

Cold-pressed from the orange peel, wild orange is excellent for energizing and revitalizing. It is also commonly used as an effective tool for uplifting mood, as well as for its wonderful citrusy aroma. It also has these properties and helps in these ways...

Calm and Stress Relief
Cold and Flu Season

Acid Reflux
Cold and Flu
Muscle Pain
Stomach Ache

I would love the try the Lemon Oil. I have tried to find essential oils and they are harder to find than I would've thought! Great post!

I use Essential oils in my cleaning products and laundry soap. I'm so glad your son is feeling better with the help of the peppermint oil. Our daughter has been terribly sick with seasonal allergies which cause breathing problems. So I would most definitely try the Peppermint Oil for her, but would love to try either the Lemon or Wild Orange. I've had so much stress lately! I am a wife, mother of two, full time student, my mother just suddenly passed away at 51, all four of my grandparents are in the hospital and I am taking a huge exam to get into the Nursing program. So with that being said I need all the stress relief I can find to brighten my days :)

Interesting post! I have not tried essential oils, but recently checked out a library book about them. I found it fascinating. I would love the lemon oil. I love lemon/citrus in general using fresh lemons liberally in my iced tea or hot tea and throwing the rinds down my garbage disposal for a natural and quick freshener.

I check out the DoTerra link you provided and I would say that if and when I have the money, I might need to try the Clary Sage. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you view life, I suppose!), the 40s have found me entering a new "phase" of life so to speak! I feel like my face looks like I'm twelve-teen again, yet, my cycle is definitely "showing its age"! HA!

Hope all is going well considering the stress you've been under with your family situation.

BTW...I wonder if that is why my grandmother SWORE by rubbing Vicks Save on her feet at night and wearing socks over them whenever she had an upper respiratory infection?!!! Makes sense!

Julia, thank you so much for sharing this. We do not like to take a lot of medicines around here. However our daughter has been studying for the S.A.T.'s which equals lots of stress. Please sign me up for the lemon. I can't wait to learn more about these oils...Thanks again :o)

I am so glad your son is doing better using the peppermint oil.
We are BIG fans of doTerra oils at our house! We use them for almost everything. I try to add new oils frequently while keeping my *go to's* supplied as well.
You can rub on just about anywhere but the bottom of the feet is best.Because of back problems I rub the oils on my wrists or behind my knees. The oils are so pure that they actually raise the frequency (energy) of our bodies as well as healing. Herbs have been used for centuries. We also take some of the oils in capsule form. Just drops we put in new empty capsules we buy at health food store. You might want to consult with someon who sells the oils to help you figure the amounts and which oils.
I hope your son continues to feel better. Enjoy the oils!
(I don't sell the oils or get any kind of commission, we just love the oils!)

I just checked out the DoTerra website. I would have a hard time deciding between the Serenity or Citrus Bliss blends. Lots of great choices!

I would choose the orange oil for my daughter with anxiety/depressions issues.

I do like essential oils, but I have only used them for cleaning supplies and in the mop bucket for a nice aroma when mopping. I do like lemon and so I think I would enjoy a lemon oil, but the orange oil would be welcomed too.

I would like to try either the Aroma Touch or Deep Blue for massage. My hubby suffers from arthritis and always appreciates massage in his hands, back, and neck.

Thanks for the opportunity to get into the giveaway!

As far as some of the others, the website is amazing and I think I will be ordering the husband and son both suffer from extreme asthma and I would like to try the Deep Blue as I have had two back surgeries and if I could find something natural to help with the back pain...well that would be wonderful!

Thank you so much for all the information. Looking forward to trying these.

Wow! Great giveaway! I think I'd like to try the lemon oil first, but either one would be fabulous! Thanks for sharing about DoTerra. I was not familiar with them. I'm off to check out their web site!

I have just recently begun looking into essential oils and am intrigued! I am a wife and mother of 5. My kids suffer from gluten/lactose intolerance and one son severe seasonal allergies - thus my dive into natural options. I really don't want to stick him on a daily medication for his allergies...unless nothing else works! I googled "essential oils" and when I saw the name of yours was certain I had found a sister in Christ and figured that would be a good place to start! :) I think the orange oil sounds great - we have reflux issues in our family, too. I did check out the doTerra site but not sure what I'd try first!
Anyway, thanks for the post! :)

Well, after visiting the DoTerra sight, I'd have to say the Grapefruit Oil seems most alluring to me to try in some future event -- the orange oil, the lime oil, I'd have to say anything citrus sounds most appealing! In fact, as far as the giveaway goes, either the lemon or orange oil would truly be just fine! So hard to know since I've never used any before, but they keep popping up on all things Pinterest!

Hi Julia, I miss seeing your kids! When I see pictures it reminds me of the fun conversations with them.
Anyways, Beth W told me about your site. Since you're in my doTERRA downline I make sure to ask people who they heard about doTERRA since I want to make sure they stay connected with the same team of people they know. I'm so excited about getting DEEP BLUE for FREE last month. I never would of thought it was good for so many things. We're planning on having a Spa Party for Beth's Team (that would include you) so I'll keep ya posted if interested. We'll be using Foot Soaks and Sugar Scrubs (Citrus Bliss) from the CPTG oils and letting people get recipes on how to do it at home. The foot massages are technique created by doTERRA's own Dr. Hill!
Love your site!!

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing about the peppermint and asthma! My little 2 y/o grandson lives in Alaska and has suffered from Asthma since he was about 9 months old. Of course he hates the inhaler mask he has to use. I will definitely be sharing this with my daughter. Surprisingly, he was in Oklahoma with family for a month in December- and in Washington for 2 weeks in March and did not have an attack during those time periods. Makes you wonder.

Anyway, I have read and re-read the descriptions of both of these oils attributes and honestly, i can't decide which one sounds more intriguing...

Thank you ladies, for giving us this chance.

By the way, I love the music on your blog.
