Living with Less

The more you have, the more you are occupied.
The less you have, the more free you are.
~Mother Theresa

Don't you just love that quote?
It is so true.

Living in tighter quarters, I have learned to purge what is not needed every month.
We also have a rule that if something new comes in, something goes out.
It really is freeing to the soul and I think gives your home a sense of peace and accomplishment.

Not to mention your mind.
It is so much easier to organize and manage less stuff.
"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
Matthew 6:26

I do the same outside.
I am ridding my garden of unnecessary weeds...
The cleaning, and moving, plucking, tilling and pulling ...only makes room for freedom.
Freedom to grow {my garden included}!

Weeding out the just allows you plenty to give of yourself, to others, to your family.
Try'll like it!

Here's to a weekend of less...
And to more quiet and greater time with the ones you love :).

Thanks! I like the rule 'if something new comes in, something goes out.' I'm trying to learn to declutter, so this post was encouraging to me!

Beautifully said Julia - I too am weeding - our home, our garden and our attitudes! It takes work and patience, but I think it is worth the effort to make room for beauty and simplicity!

You are so right! God has been at work in mine and my husband's hearts to teach us to live with less. I know it's why we never owned a garage until this past year! ;) Living with less is certainly and wonderfully more freeing!! And in writing that, I think I should go purge my closet!!! Have a blessed weekend - look to your heavenly Father ♥

I've been thinking a lot lately about weeding out the excess in our home. At times I feel so burdened under the weight of all this stuff. Sigh. Maybe today (with your encouragement) I'll tackle a room or two. Lovely post.

A rule I am trying to follow.

I couldn't agree more. We have learned not to live outside our means. God has provided us with all we need on this earth. Over the past year we have simplified and downsized and found that life is much more enjoyable. We know that God will provide and will see us through. God bless.
