Choosing Peace

Life is grand...isn't it?
Even in the midst of the hard, ugly spots that seem to pose a giant dark cloud over your head....there is beauty.
That's the way I choose to see it anyway.
I know that sometimes through my blog my life seems...well...constantly peaceful.
Believe me, our family is just like any other.
We are messy, and loud, sometimes short tempered, anxious....did I mention loud?
There are disagreements, and words spoken harshly, but there is always, always forgiveness.
If there is one thing that we have instilled in our children, it is a closeness and a bond nurtured in forgiveness.
And even on the days that life seems like spilled milk, we mop up, leave it behind, and forgive.
There is peace in that.

{Lily and Gladys, Gladdie for short.}
Handmade crafts, an organic garden, canned goods,and pretty pictures of my children having fun....these things do not make a life bathed in perfection.
Rather, those moments remind me of all of the good {along with the bad} that help us to grow in character and faith.
 {The newest baby calf.}

My blog has been my little nugget full of reminders of the good in our life...the contentment that we share.
I hope that when you visit you leave feeling blessed by God's grace.
He has covered us in grace:).
 {Having FUN at a wedding this weekend.}

 {My hubby on the far right talking to friends.}

Life is chock full of ups and downs and all arounds :).
The only steadfast peace is in Christ, so I post about those moments even when life is not smooth sailing.

  Whatever is true,
whatever is honorable,
whatever is just,
whatever is pure,
 whatever is lovely,
whatever is commendable,
if there is any excellence,
if there is anything worthy of praise,
 think about these things.
Phillipians 4:8

 Peace IS a choice.

Look for it...even if you are having an off day.
Mop up the mess, leave it behind, and choose to find joy :).

Wishing you a lovely matter what life may bring!

I saw a sign the other day that said, "When life falls to pieces, make a quilt." It made me smile.
Your post is a lovely reminder that we can chose joy and contentment because God is the author of the pages of our life.
You always inspire me!
P.S. Your little calf in DARLING!

Beautiful thought Julia - thank you so much for sharing your heart! I strive to instill contentment in myself and in our children in a world that screams discontent, and it's hard - so hard at times! I am so thankful for the Word of God drawing us daily back to the truth.

"The only steadfast peace is in Christ"--so very true. Loved this post Julia--thank you:)
PS: There is no perfect family because all families are made up of imperfect people, but we do have a choice-as you said so very well.

Thank you so much for your post. As my husband and I prepare to bring a daughter into our home through adoption, I know that I will need inspirational words like these to get me through the times when my home is not as clean as I am used to and when things get a little hectic. It will be a good reminder to be thankful, even in those moments, for all of the beautiful blessings that God has given our family. I am grateful that I came across your blog- thank you for sharing.

My cup is always filled when I leave your blog. Your words and pictures share such a love and grace, something that only comes from God. That verse in Philippians is one of my favorites. Thank you again for a beautiful post! ~Erika from MishMashedMe
