I was reading an article the other day as I sat waiting at the Doctor's office.
It was about a lovely woman in her 80's who had lived with diabetes for the past 70 years.
She talked about the struggles her parents had to endure to keep her healthy as a young girl and the trials that she bore.
One line caught my attention, though.
She said that during her teenage years she felt so alone and different because of her condition, until her Mother gave her wise and well honored words.
She said that each day was not her own, rather a gift from God.
A true gift, because tomorrow could prove otherwise.
And instead of looking at each day for what it was lacking, missing, not giving to you....to selflessly thank God He had given this day to you as a gift.
To open it, like a present.
To do your best with your life for that one day, and then leave the rest to God.
Leave the rest to God.
Isn't that comforting?
Sometimes I think I put too much on my own shoulders and forget that all God asks is that I do my best and leave the rest in His hands.
I tend to muddle my life into a complicated jumble of thoughts.
But really, it just comes back to this simplicity...
I tend to muddle my life into a complicated jumble of thoughts.
But really, it just comes back to this simplicity...
He covers those missing pieces, those things that I might not be able to do perfectly and patches the holes.
The woman in the article boasted that her perfect health at 80 was because she followed her Mother's advice.
She just did her best each day with her health, her children, her marriage, her friendships...thanked God each morning that He blessed her with another day, and left the rest to Him.
It's really that easy.
Good words.
Good thoughts.
And a good way to live.

OOh... this is good. It reminds me a bit of our ladies book study we had this morning. A chapter in the book: Unglued..by Lysa TerKuerst.
I may share about it over on my blog one of these days..
That we are God's Workmanship...and that we have to leave "ourselves" in HIS hand because He is still forming us into His image...
Every day is a gift... for HIS glory! and not for ours.
You are always so encouraging. I'm grateful for that. =)
Beautifully written Loved every word
